Sundara is the modern interpretation of a Pushpanjali. In Bharatanatyam, Pushpanjali is the opening dance in which the dancer offers salutations to God, their guru, their orchestra, and the audience. With this piece, Geatali offers gratitude and love for her family, her friends, her gurus who have made her the dancer she is today, and her audience who have made this night possible. Shukriya, thank you, for being here.
Like a flower blooming on a new spring day, this dance is a story of nourishment, softness, and becoming. It is rooted in the concept of movement as medicine, blending Bharatanatyam and yoga– movement that requires balance, presence, stretch, and surrender. Inspired by the life changing shift in Geatali’s movement practice, this dance is rooted in mindfulness and joy.
An abstract depiction of a woman trapped in a controlling and abusive relationship. She is a prisoner, hiding in hurt, alone with her misery. Enduring, until she no longer can. Enter her world, and witness the duality of her strength and pain.
Spirituality meets swag. Kamali is a song of resilience and empowerment converted into summertime fun, dancing under a shower of falling flowers. Believing in yourself and your dreams, which requires strength and perseverance, can also be fun!
Surrounded by the vastness of the inky ocean, floating through fluidity- this piece is a voyage. Enter this dreamy realm, where time stands still and the siren song pulls you to a place suspended in time. Fluid is a journey of self discovery, full of both a deep yearning for more and the peaceful flow of knowing you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
“Den inre skogen” means “the inner forest” in Swedish. Inspired by our own inner forests, the diverse and wild ecosystems of our minds, this instrumental piece is a freestyle. Freestyling is an important part of Geatali’s movement practice. It’s a sacred space where intuition and music guide her body to create stories or new shapes and patterns. It’s a space free of perfectionism, a freefall into consciousness. With this in mind, Geatali invites you to be a part of this story.
This dance symbolizes the journey of reclaiming one’s life and stepping into personal power. It’s a story that begins with feelings of hopelessness and goes through the process of facing what’s within, unlearning what no longer serves, and exploring what does. The journey of self discovery and dream chasing, where possibilities are unlimited. The world is ours.
A celebration of both comforting safe spaces and exhilarating new chapters. An exploration of endings and beginnings. Coming Home is about all the homes that can exist for us – the homes we find in familiar places, in one another, in our own minds and bodies. It’s about the places that hold us, and holding gratitude and deep love for those places.
